Question by Jimmy: Why is soccer lacking popularity in the US compared to other countries?
Soccer (futbol) is the world’s most popular sport. Yet football, basketball, baseball, heck even golf are all more popular in this country.

What is up with the lack of popularity of the world’s most popular sport in the US?

Question by : Are you allowed to bring soccer boots and other soccer equipment on a plane when traveling overseas?
The soccer boots do not have metal stud and I want to carry them with my carry-on bag and was wondering if you are allowed to. If I can bring it on with my carry-on bag then can I put them in my suitcase or am I not allowed to do that too. How would I get them overseas?

They are just shoes, after all. They will be perfectly fine in carry on luggage or in checked in luggage – either one – does not matter.

Question by jewels: Will wearing soccer cleats affect a tattoo on my foot 3 1/2 days after I get it?
I’m planning on getting a tattoo on my foot this Friday morning. I know tattoos scab up and that if the scab gets pulled off it affects the inking of the tattoo. I have soccer practice the following Tuesday in the late evening. By wearing my cleats, will the rubbing ruin the tattoo? Even if it’s wrapped?

well… as long as the skin isn’t peeling i think it’d be alright. but you want to keep it dry. use foot powder

Question by Mary D: How can I become a better soccer player and prepare for my high school’s try outs?
Hi! I want to try out for my high school’s soccer team this spring. There are three teams–the freshmen team, JV, and Varsity. Because of my age, I would have to make the JV team to be able to play. In other words, I’m not a freshman. I have played soccer for 6 years, so I do have experience. However, I am very out of shape right now and my ball skills aren’t too fabulous. They never have been. My fortes are speed and aggressiveness. I am currently in a league playing for my parish, so I will be fully in shape by November, when we end. What can I do, starting now, to become a better player AND prepare myself for Spring tryouts? Also, what can I do over the winter to stay in shape?
When I say “become a better soccer player,” what I mean is, how can I improve my stamina, speed, and ball skills?

Diet is very important. Eliminate red meat, fried foods, alcohol, and fast food.

Question by Chris: How can a soccer goalkeeper keep practicing during the cold winter seasons?
Soccer seasons over for the Fall but I really want some advice to keep on my game and keep getting better in goal. Indoor soccer is out of the question because their season has already started. Also, how can I practice on my own during season outside.

In Soccer/Football what’s the difference between being yellow carded, booked by the referee, and cautioned?

Also – what are the repercussions of each of them. Do they all merit a yellow card? Are they just different reasons for yellow carding?

There’s no such thing in soccer as being “booked” or “cautioned”, there’s only “yellow card” which is a warning for some minor violation of the rules or “red card” which means you’re out of the game for a major or repeated violation(s) of the rules.

I need to get some new outdoor soccer shoes for my first year of varsity. I was going to look at Soccer Center Ohio, but it recently closed down because of the economy.
